Energy Management System and 50001 Ready Introduction Materials

The Energy Management System and 50001 Ready Introduction Training Materials are designed to introduce participants to an energy management system based upon ISO 50001 and the concepts, structure, and features of the 50001 Ready Navigator. After receiving the training, participants should be able to explain to others what the 50001 Ready Navigator is and make an informed decision on the approach for implementation at their organization.

This presentation briefly introduces the fundamental concepts of an energy management system and the resources available in the 50001 Ready Navigator.
Audience: Those who may support or participate in implementation at their site
Duration: 15-30 minutes
Materials: 1 set of 16 slides

This presentation introduces the concept of an energy management system, the 50001 Ready Program, and the 50001 Ready Navigator. It offers a high level understanding of the value of a 50001 Ready and highlights success stories of program participants.
Audience: Those interested in learning about energy management systems and how the 50001 Ready Navigator can help their organization
Duration: 30-45 minutes
Materials: 1 set of 30 slides

This training provides a comprehensive overview including the purpose of energy management systems, ISO 50001, the Department of Energy’s free tools and support available through the 50001 Ready program, and how 50001 Ready supports other energy saving activities and programs.
Audience: Anyone looking for information explaining and promoting uptake of energy management systems
Duration: 2 hours
Materials: 1 set of 77 slides and speakers notes

This detailed training introduces the purpose of ISO 50001, and showcases the Department of Energy’s free tools and support available through the 50001 Ready program. The materials are designed to demonstrate how 50001 Ready can be leveraged by utility energy efficiency programs. This presentation also highlights the 50001 Ready Navigator’s Partner Platform, a cohort management functionality that supports utility-scale 50001 Ready programs.
Audience: Utility program administrators and their program implementers who are looking for information explaining and promoting uptake of energy management systems with a specific focus on how 50001 Ready can be leveraged by utility energy efficiency programs
Duration: 2 hours
Materials: 1 set of 77 slides and speakers notes

This training teaches multi-site project teams (enterprise energy teams) the fundamentals of an ISO 50001 based energy management system and the 50001 Ready Navigator, including an overview of its 25 tasks. Participants also learn how to define the multi-site team role relative to the site-level energy team role.
Audience: Central office teams who will support 50001 Ready implementation across a number of sites within their organization
Duration: 2-3 hours
Materials: 1 set of approximately 75 slides

50001 Ready Task Education Materials

The 50001 Ready Task Education Materials focus on introducing various audiences to the details of the 50001 Ready Navigator 25 tasks. Implementation of a 50001 Ready energy management system is not necessarily the intended outcome of the training, but rather familiarity and knowledge of 50001 Ready. The information contained in this training can be passed on to others or used to manage an energy efficiency program that makes use of 50001 Ready.

This 2-day training teaches the ins and outs of the 50001 Ready Navigator to individuals such as utility energy efficiency staff and their contracted program implementers to train end-use customers from all sectors. The intent of this training is to ensure future trainers are prepared to answer customer questions regarding the ISO 50001 standard and 50001 Ready tasks.
Audience: Utility energy efficiency program managers and program implementers
Duration: Approximately 16 hours (2, 8 hour days), plus approximately 30 minutes for pre-training webinar
Materials: 2 sets of slides of approximately 120 slides each, Pre-Training Webinar of 30 slides, and associated speakers notes

This 2-day training with a focus on the manufacturing sector, teaches energy managers how to implement the 25 tasks of 50001 Ready using the 50001 Ready Navigator. Participants will understand the tasks and how to get started implementing all elements of an EnMS.
Audience: Energy team leaders and members who plan to lead 50001 Ready implementation at their manufacturing site
Duration: Approximately 16 hours (2, 8 hour days), plus 30 minutes for pre-training webinar
Materials: 2 sets of approximately 120 slides each, Pre-Training Webinar of 20 slides, and some associated speakers notes
